“The journey through life is never easy for anyone... everyone experiences hardship and hurdles along the road, and the same can be said, even for a warrior goddess.”
We are blessed to have Alexis Franklin, Yoga Warrior Goddess, as one of our Manakai Swimwear Ambassadors. Please join us as we share her views on overcoming challenges, personal inspiration, self-belief, and empowerment.
MS: We love your trade name Yoga Warrior Goddess! Please tell us how each part of your name personally resonates with you.
YWG: The name warrior can mean many different things depending on the person you are asking. For me I am not a warrior of combat or warfare, rather a peaceful “warrior” of light on a quest for self-discovery. When I tune into my warrior self I’m able to overcome daunting or discouraging moments that life throws at me. I strive to always move forward with strength and courage.
A Goddess in my eyes is a woman who embodies grace and Shakti (female energy). A Goddess will inspire others to see the potential in themselves, being true to what is in your heart and always creating the energy you wish to attract. A goddess moves through life with optimism, love and light in her heart, sharing it with others wherever she goes.
I want to possess the qualities in both the warrior and the goddess. It is a life practice!
MS: How do you hope to inspire others?
YWG: As others saw the potential in me, I thrive to see the potential in others, pass on the light, and inspire everyone to believe in themselves. For me that is the work of a warrior goddess... seeing the brightness when others can’t, inspiring others to see the potential in themselves, being true to what is in your heart and always creating the energy you wish to attract. I want to inspire others to view downfalls as the possibility to grow and find the brightness when it is dark.
MS: What advice would you give women learning to find their purpose?
YWG: I have found that the glimmer of light can be found in many different places... for example, surrounding myself with optimistic people who are an inspiration helped me to harness my own potential even when it was hard to see. It doesn't happen overnight, but every day is an opportunity to leave shadows behind, find the beauty in each moment, person, and place and feel the warmth of life again.
MS: We also believe that we should surround themselves with a Tribe full of positive energy. How has this changed your life?
YWG: It is incredible, gaining self-belief and the feeling of empowerment allows you to slowly push the boundaries of life; that is when a dream becomes a reality, who you thought you were no longer exists, you smile more, you laugh more, you begin to vibrate at a higher frequency. Life begins to change and you are letting your inner flame shine, sharing it with others.
In 2013, Alexis received her 200 RYT through Marianne Wells Yoga School in Costa Rica. Alexis enjoys sharing the gift of yoga with her students in a positive, non-competitive, and non-judgmental atmosphere. Her upbeat classes are taught using a vinyasa style and will challenge you to build strength, endurance, flexibility and balance while focusing on alignment, breath and quieting the mind.
